Cover art for the last and final Teenage Years track “What I Need”, featuring a photo I took of a lake party in 2007 during the summer I wrote the song. How can anyone be sad at a lake party?

Allison Weiss - “What I Need”
The 12th and final track of my monthly song series The Teenage Years. I can’t believe it’s all over, but I think this song is an appropriate finale. I wrote this in 2007 just after I turned 20 years old, during a summer that felt like it could last forever. Overall it’s a song about a future that’s brighter than ever. At a basic level it’s just another song about having a big stupid crush on somebody new.
Recorded in Brooklyn at YouTooCanWoo studios and produced by Paul Hammer of Savoir Adore. Acoustic guitars/vocals/tambo by me, background singing by Lauren Zettler and Joanna Katcher, every other guitar/synth/drum/yell by Paul Hammer!

Cover art for Track 11 of The Teenage Years, “December” features a photo I took in summer of 2004. I made a fire in my backyard to burn a video tape I made with friends from my old school. Things are very dramatic when you’re 16.

Allison Weiss - “December”
Track 11 of my monthly song series The Teenage Years. I wrote this song in 2004 when I was 16 and full of feelings and all I wanted was to get along like we did in middle school and bake a cake filled with rainbows and smiles that everyone would eat and be happy.
Last month I took a bus down to New Jersey to work with producer Ace Enders of The Early November, who proceeded to take my tiny acoustic guitar song and turn it into an epic pop anthem worthy of any prom night slow dance. Drums by Matt Weber, vocals by yours truly, everything else by Ace.
